Sheriff Farmer's Safe ID Card Program
Sheriff Bill Farmer would like to introduce a new program being offered by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office called, "Sheriff Farmer's Safe-ID Card". This program has been implemented to assist individuals with a disability living in our community to safely communicate their needs to law enforcement. The purpose of the Safe-ID card is to empower individuals with the ability to communicate their disability to law enforcement in a safe and effective way. The Safe-ID card provides important information, such as name, date of birth, and address. It also provides contact information for an emergency contact to be used in case of an emergency. On the back of the card, individuals will be able to identify tips on how the cardholder prefers to communicate and anything that may help keep the individual to remain calm during their interaction with law enforcement.
