The Teen Health Programs offered by the Women’s Health Coalition are dedicated to empowering young people with the knowledge and skills to navigate critical aspects of their lives. Anchored by the impactful message "Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself/Infórmate Teen Health Program," these initiatives focus on ensuring that teens have the right and ability to lead injury-free lives, prevent HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and unwanted pregnancies, and complete their high school education.
One key component of these programs is Infórmate ("Inform Yourself"), a transformative initiative that trains and supports teens as peer health educators within their communities. By leveraging the peer-to-peer approach, Infórmate empowers teens to become advocates for their well-being and that of their peers.
Another noteworthy program is the (CY) Teen Maze ©, a registered activity of the WHCofAZ. This innovative life-sized board game turns teenagers into pawns, where life choices become the dice. The CY© Teen Maze is designed to provide teens with insights into potential outcomes related to decisions concerning sex, substance abuse, educational and vocational choices, finances, and civic responsibility. Covering a wide array of topics including abstinence, peer pressures, contraceptives, tobacco, drugs & alcohol, rehabilitation, legal consequences, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy prevention, teen parenting, HIV/STD prevention, and post-graduation career & education choices, this interactive "game" ensures accurate information is presented in a factually based manner. The program refrains from judgment, offering a safe space for teens to gather information on healthy behaviors and make informed choices for their future.
